Ancient Tek is a network of world class artists: master musicians, visionaries, writers and visual artists working in all areas of digital and traditional music and dance.
We curate performances, composition, research projects and retreats in a several locations worldwide.
We use modern technologies to promote ancient technologies, particularly ancient music and dance traditions of the African and Asian diaspora to celebrate and pay homage to these rich traditions, helping to preserve culture and knowledge for future generations.
Carnatic Electro
A collaborative research project between Imran Ullah Khan and Kolkata based virtuoso ensemble, LAYAVINYAS. The project looked into Indian classical and electronic music fusion, through Ableton Live, particularly for performance, and was supported by Wales Arts International.
As well as creating events that celebrate traditional music and dance performances from a number of traditions, Ancient Tek also performs as two distinct ensembles under the same name.
Ancient Tek Live
The first is a live a band performing original music composed by Ancient Tek artists and may include any number and combination of artists from the network.
Ancient Tek DJs
The second is a digital improvisation ensemble of rappers, vocalists, percussionists and instrumentalists all performing with a DJ playing original music composed by our artists.
